Microdermabrasion Reveals a New You

With summer right around the corner you may be considering ways to improve your skin’s appearance. If so, then you may want to find out how microdermabrasion could give you the look you want.

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure in which your Phoenix dermatologist uses a specialized sanding tool with small crystals to gently remove the outermost layers of skin, which are the most damaged due to exposure to sun, toxins, environmental elements, etc.

What skin problems can microdermabrasion improve?

Microdermabrasion is a great option or anyone dealing with these common skin conditions:

  • Pigmentation
  • Moles
  • Acne scars, pox marks and other superficial scars
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun spots
  • Clogged pores

This one aesthetic treatment can improve the appearance of your skin and reduce the look of these dermatological problems. Microdermabrasion is also good for all skin types; however, it’s important to note that those with more severe skin issues, like deep scars, wrinkles, and stretch marks may not benefit from this treatment. Talk to your Phoenix dermatologist about whether or not microdermabrasion is right for you and your skin.

What Does Getting Microdermabrasion Entail?

When you come in for your treatment we will first gently clean the skin to remove any debris, oil and dirt beforehand. Then we will glide an abrasive tool over your skin to brush away imperfections and promote a more radiant glow. This abrasive tool contains small crystals, which gently blast away the outermost layers, as compared to dermabrasion, which is more abrasive and often requires a numbing agent.

How Long Does Microdermabrasion Last?

Your microdermabrasion facial will last for about a half an hour; however, you may require additional time if necessary.

What Are the Benefits of Microdermabrasion?

The biggest advantage of opting of microdermabrasion is that there is no downtime after the procedure. You can return to work or your daily activities right after. Furthermore, this procedure does not require anesthesia, so there are fewer side effects.

While chemical peels and laser resurfacing are also effective at treating skin conditions of the face, it’s less effective on the chest, hands and neck; however, microdermabrasion is ideal for improving the appearance of skin anywhere on the body.
