We will be happy to assist you. I completely agree. For several months, all I have received is the same simplistic supposed-solutions to these problems. None of them advance me towards a solution. I have received second level technical support.
They obviously have no additional knowledge than mine. This TS initially got me going with a fudge, but since I have fallen back to my original situation. We desperately need a bug fix from Microsoft and for the relevant help documentation to be updated to reflect the Windows 10 situation. This worked for me. These are the steps that worked: Turn off the machine that Windows 10 claims controls the Homegroup.
Reboot another machine so that it loses any detail about the existing Homegroup. Use this rebooted machine and go to Homegroup and you will be told that no Homegroup exists. None, of those suggestions do any good. They’re just the common suggestions, repeated numerous times, in numerous threads. They’ve all been tried numerous times, by numerous people, me included. This has been an issue for quite a long time.
Microsoft needs to find the bug, and write a fix for it, and then put it into an update. This is ridiculous! Stop advising people to try these common steps that do not work. Admit microsoft has an issue that they need to resolve, and have not done. Inform people of the problem, and that you all do not have a fix for it.
Stop misleading people. Microsoft has failed, again, and that is the full of it In reply to justlilome’s post on February 4, Come on Microsoft! Sandy MacRae. Like most here, I have tried and failed to make Home Group work in Windows It was fine in Windows 7, my previous OS. I get numerous errors trying these ‘fixes’ described here – none work!
